Description.
Provide specialist scrub support for complex surgical procedures across theatres in both NHS hospitals and private surgical centres. Deliver high-level intraoperative assistance for advanced surgical specialties, maintaining sterile fields, managing specialist instrumentation, anticipating surgeon requirements, and supporting safe, efficient operative workflows for high-acuity cases.
Key Requirements.
Experience.
Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience as a Scrub Nurse within specialist theatres such as major orthopaedics, cardiac surgery, ophthalmic surgery, neurosurgery, spinal surgery, or urology.
Skilled in specialist instrument handling, operative sequencing, aseptic technique, and supporting complex elective and emergency surgical lists.
Experience collaborating with surgical teams, anaesthetists, and theatre practitioners across high-acuity and technically demanding procedures.
Familiar with WHO Surgical Safety Standards, specialty-specific protocols, and perioperative governance requirements in both NHS and private hospital settings.
Qualifications.
Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an Adult Nurse.
Specialist scrub competencies or advanced theatre training relevant to major surgical specialties.
CPD in specialist surgical pathways such as major joint replacement, cardiac surgery, ophthalmic microsurgery, neurosurgical procedures, spinal instrumentation, or advanced urological surgery.

Full identity and right-to-work verification.
Two recent clinical references specific to theatre practice.
Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training (accepted across NHS and private providers).
Immunisation compliance for theatre and perioperative environments.
Full NMC registration and fitness-to-practise check.
Verification of qualifications, competencies, and employment history.
