Theatre Scrub Nurses >
Description.
Provide scrub support for a wide range of surgical procedures across theatres in both NHS hospitals and private surgical centres. Maintain sterile fields, prepare instruments, assist surgeons intraoperatively, and ensure safe, efficient delivery of general, routine, and intermediate surgical lists.
Key Requirements.
Experience.
Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience as a Scrub Nurse across general, elective, and day-surgery theatres.
Skilled in instrument handling, aseptic technique, operative sequencing, and supporting surgeons throughout a variety of core surgical procedures.
Experience working within multidisciplinary theatre teams across elective and emergency lists.
Familiar with WHO Surgical Safety Standards, theatre protocols, and perioperative governance requirements in both NHS and private settings.
Qualifications.
Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an Adult Nurse.
Theatre-specific training or scrub competencies covering general surgical procedures.
CPD in perioperative practice, aseptic technique, and surgical safety.
Compliance and Vetting.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
Full identity and right-to-work verification.
Two recent clinical references specific to theatre practice.
Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training (accepted across NHS and private providers).
Immunisation compliance for theatre and perioperative environments.
Full NMC registration and fitness-to-practise check.
Verification of qualifications, competencies, and employment history.
