Description.

Provide specialist anaesthetic assistance across NHS theatres, supporting anaesthetists with safe induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia. Prepare anaesthetic equipment, manage airway support, monitor patients, and maintain high clinical and safety standards throughout operative procedures.

Key Requirements.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience in anaesthetics, theatres, critical care, or acute clinical settings.

  • Skilled in airway management, anaesthetic equipment preparation, patient positioning, and intraoperative monitoring.

  • Experience supporting elective and emergency surgery across multiple specialities.

  • Familiar with anaesthetic safety standards, WHO checklists, and perioperative governance requirements.

Qualifications.

  • NMC registration as an Adult Nurse.

  • Accredited anaesthetic training or theatre competency modules required.

  • CPD in anaesthetic care, airway skills, perioperative safety, and emergency response.

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent clinical references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training.

  • Immunisation compliance for theatre and clinical environments.

  • Full NMC registration and fitness-to-practise check.

  • Verification of qualifications and employment history.
