Description.

Provide specialist post-operative nursing care within NHS theatre recovery and Post-Anaesthesia Care Units. Support safe awakening from anaesthesia, airway management, pain control, physiological stabilisation, and the safe transition of patients following surgical and anaesthetic procedures.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience in recovery, PACU, critical care, or acute surgical nursing.

  • Skilled in airway support, cardiovascular and respiratory monitoring, pain management, and post-operative complication recognition.

  • Experience caring for patients recovering from general, regional, and local anaesthesia across elective and emergency surgical lists.

  • Familiar with theatre safety standards, PACU protocols, early warning systems, and escalation pathways.

Qualifications.

  • NMC registration as an Adult Nurse.

  • Post-operative or recovery-specific training desirable (e.g., airway management, PACU competency modules).

  • CPD in perioperative care, airway skills, post-operative assessment, and emergency response.

Qualifications.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent clinical references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training.

  • Immunisation compliance for theatre and clinical environments.

  • Full NMC registration and fitness-to-practise check.

  • Verification of qualifications and employment history.
