Description.

Provide specialist speech, language, communication, and swallowing assessment and therapy across NHS hospitals, community services, specialist schools, and rehabilitation pathways. Support safe swallowing management, communication development, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for adults and children.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience delivering speech and language therapy in hospital, community, or specialist clinical settings.

  • Skilled in communication assessment, therapy planning, dysphagia management (where trained), and supporting complex communication needs.

  • Experience working with MDTs including nurses, AHPs, paediatric teams, neurologists, and rehabilitation services.

  • Familiar with RCSLT standards, NICE guidance, and therapy protocols for communication and swallowing disorders.

Qualifications.

  • BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy or recognised equivalent.

  • Full HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.

  • Dysphagia qualification or accredited training desirable for roles requiring swallowing assessment.

  • CPD in communication disorders, dysphagia, paediatrics, adult neurology, or specialist therapy pathways.

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent professional references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training.

  • Immunisation compliance for hospital and community clinical environments.

  • Full HCPC registration and fitness-to-practise check.

  • Verification of qualifications and employment history.
