Ophthalmic Nurses >
Description.
Provide specialist eye-care nursing within outpatient, theatre, emergency eye clinics, and community ophthalmology services. Support assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and ophthalmic procedures while ensuring safe, patient-centred care.
Key Requirements.
Experience.
NMC-registered Adult Nurse with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in ophthalmology, eye hospitals, ophthalmic outpatient clinics, or minor eye condition services.
Skilled in visual acuity assessment, eye-drop administration, pre- and post-operative care, and supporting ophthalmic diagnostic procedures.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary ophthalmic teams, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, and theatre staff.
Qualifications.
NMC registration as an Adult Nurse.
Ophthalmic nursing training or experience in ophthalmic clinics or eye theatres preferred.
Competency in ophthalmic assessment techniques (e.g., visual fields, OCT support) desirable.
Up-to-date safeguarding and clinical skills relevant to outpatient or procedural environments.
Compliance and Vetting.
Enhanced DBS.
Full identity and right-to-work verification.
Two recent clinical references.
Up-to-date NHS Statutory & Mandatory Training (BLS, Infection Prevention, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Safeguarding).
Immunisation compliance (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TB where applicable).
NMC PIN and registration check.
Qualification and employment history verification.
Competency confirmation for ophthalmic nursing practice.
