Description.

Provide specialist, high-acuity nursing care for critically ill and premature newborns in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, delivering ventilatory support, complex monitoring, and family-centred care within advanced neonatal services.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • NMC-registered Children’s Nurse (or Adult Nurse with neonatal critical care experience) with a minimum of 2 years’ NICU experience.

  • Skilled in managing ventilated and high-dependency infants, including CPAP, HFNC, invasive ventilation, and continuous intensive monitoring.

  • Experience supporting complex neonatal conditions, stabilisation, emergency response, and transitional care.

  • Confident working within MDT neonatal teams (neonatal consultants, ANNPs, AHPs).

Qualifications.

  • NMC registration as a Children’s Nurse, or Adult Nurse with proven neonatal critical-care competence.

  • Neonatal QIS (Qualified in Specialty) — required by most NICUs and expected under Framework standards.

  • Neonatal Life Support (NLS)mandatory for all NICU placements.

  • Safeguarding Children Level 3.

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Enhanced DBS.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent clinical references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory & Mandatory Training.

  • Immunisation compliance.

  • NMC PIN and registration check.

  • Qualification and employment history verification.

  • Competency confirmation for neonatal intensive care practice (including ventilation support and emergency neonatal care).
