Description.
Provide specialist support to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex behavioural or communication needs within residential care settings. Assist with daily living, personal care, community access, emotional support, and structured routines, promoting independence, safety, and meaningful quality of life.
Key Requirements.
Experience.
Minimum 6–12 months’ experience in learning-disability services, residential care, supported living, autism support, or behavioural support roles.
Skilled in communication support, positive behaviour strategies, personal care, daily living skills, and supporting individuals with varied cognitive and sensory needs.
Experience working within a multidisciplinary approach alongside senior carers, behaviour specialists, nurses, therapists, and social-care teams.
Familiar with safeguarding requirements, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) principles, Mental Capacity Act, and residential LD care standards.
Qualifications.
Care Certificate or equivalent induction training desirable.
Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification advantageous, especially LD or Autism-specific pathways.
CPD in Learning Disability support, autism awareness, PBS approaches, communication strategies, and safeguarding.
Compliance and Vetting.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
Full identity and right-to-work verification.
Two recent care-based or LD-service references.
Up-to-date statutory and mandatory training for LD and residential care roles.
Immunisation compliance where required by the provider.
Verification of qualifications, training, and employment history.
