Description.

Provide safe and compliant day-to-day supervision of community pharmacies as the appointed Responsible Pharmacist (RP). Ensure legal operation of the premises, support safe dispensing and clinical decision-making, oversee pharmacy staff, and maintain GPhC standards throughout each locum assignment.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ post-registration experience working as a community or primary care pharmacist.

  • Skilled in RP duties, dispensing accuracy, clinical assessment, minor ailments advice, and high-risk medicines management.

  • Experience supervising pharmacy teams, managing workflow, and resolving clinical queries during independent locum practice.

  • Familiar with GPhC standards, RP regulations, controlled drug requirements, and NHS community pharmacy services.

Qualifications.

  • MPharm degree (or recognised equivalent) with full GPhC registration.

  • Completion of the Responsible Pharmacist requirements as per GPhC regulations.

  • CPD in community clinical services, minor ailments, vaccination, and safe supply of medicines.

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent professional references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training.

  • Immunisation compliance for patient-facing clinical services.

  • Full GPhC registration and fitness-to-practise check.

  • Verification of qualifications and employment history.
