Description.
Provide specialist surgical and perioperative pharmacy services across NHS surgical wards, theatres, day-case units, and pre-operative assessment clinics. Support safe perioperative medicines management, optimise therapy before and after surgery, and contribute to enhanced recovery and complex perioperative care.
Key Requirements.
Experience.
Minimum 2 years’ post-registration experience in surgical, perioperative, or advanced hospital clinical pharmacy.
Skilled in perioperative medicines optimisation, managing high-risk medicines, and supporting surgical pathways across elective and emergency surgery.
Experience contributing to MDT decision-making with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre practitioners, and pre-op assessment teams.
Familiar with perioperative guidelines, enhanced recovery protocols, anticoagulation management, and surgical prescribing systems.
Qualifications.
MPharm degree (or recognised equivalent) with full GPhC registration.
Postgraduate diploma or certificate in Clinical Pharmacy desirable.
Additional perioperative, surgical, or anaesthesia-related modules or training beneficial.
CPD in surgical therapeutics, perioperative care, and high-risk medicines management.
