Description.

Our Mental Health Nurses provide safe, compassionate, and clinically robust support across acute inpatient wards, crisis teams, CMHTs, forensic units, CAMHS, and specialist mental health services. Every RMN supplied by Obsidian is experienced, adaptable, and confident working within multidisciplinary teams to maintain safety, stability, and therapeutic support in high-pressure environments.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • NMC-registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a minimum of 1–2 years’ post-registration experience in mental health settings.

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Acute inpatient mental health

  • Psychiatric intensive care (PICU)

  • Crisis intervention / home treatment teams

  • Community mental health teams (CMHT)

  • Forensic / secure mental health units

  • CAMHS inpatient or community services

  • Confident in managing risk, de-escalation, medication administration, and Mental Health Act processes.

Qualifications.

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC, Part 1 – Mental Health) in good standing.

  • Evidence of post-registration training relevant to mental health practice (e.g., PMVA/MAPA, rapid tranquillisation where required by trust policy).

  • Up-to-date clinical skills aligned with NHS requirements..

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Right to Work in the UK confirmed before placement.

  • Enhanced DBS check (with barred lists where relevant).

  • Two verified clinical references.

  • Immunisation compliance (Hepatitis B and other vaccines required for NHS clinical roles).

  • Mandatory training aligned with NHS framework standards, including:

  • Basic Life Support

  • Manual Handling

  • Infection Prevention & Control

  • Safeguarding Adults & Children

  • PMVA/MAPA or equivalent

  • Full NMC registration verified with no restrictions on practice.
