Mental Health Support Workers (SWs) >

Description.

Provide direct care and support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties across NHS mental health trusts, inpatient units, crisis services, and community support teams. Support therapeutic engagement, daily living activities, risk monitoring, and safe, person-centred care for adults and young people with varying mental health needs.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience working in mental health, crisis care, supported living, residential services, or acute inpatient environments.

  • Skilled in de-escalation, therapeutic communication, observation levels, and supporting individuals with complex mental health presentations.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary mental health teams including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.

  • Familiar with safeguarding procedures, risk-assessment protocols, and mental health care pathways.

Qualifications.

  • Care Certificate or equivalent induction training desirable.

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification advantageous.

  • CPD in mental health awareness, de-escalation, autism/learning disability support, and trauma-informed care.

Compliance and Vetting.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent employment or clinical references.

  • Up-to-date statutory and mandatory training for mental health and support roles.

  • Immunisation compliance where required for clinical environments.

  • Verification of qualifications, training, and employment history.
