Description.

Provide ward-based support across NHS and private hospitals, assisting nursing teams with patient care, daily living needs, observations, mobility, and maintaining a safe and supportive clinical environment. Contribute to high-quality inpatient care across medical, surgical, emergency, and specialist wards.

Key Requirements.

Experience.

  • Minimum 6–12 months’ experience working as an HCA in hospital wards, acute care, or equivalent clinical settings.

  • Skilled in personal care, safe moving and handling, basic observations, patient monitoring, and supporting individuals with varying levels of acuity.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary ward teams including Nurses, AHPs, doctors, and clinical support staff.

  • Familiar with infection control standards, NEWS2 observations, safeguarding duties, and hospital governance requirements.

Qualifications.

  • Care Certificate or equivalent induction training desirable.

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification advantageous but not essential.

  • CPD in acute care support, observations, moving and handling, and patient safety.

Vetting and Compliance.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

  • Full identity and right-to-work verification.

  • Two recent clinical or hospital-based references.

  • Up-to-date NHS Statutory and Mandatory Training (accepted by NHS and private hospitals).

  • Immunisation compliance for hospital clinical environments.

  • Verification of qualifications, training, and employment history.
